Do I need my own horse?
If you cannot buy or borrow a young horse we can provide a young horse at an additional charge.
Additional charge for a young horse to use* for the duration of the program is $1,250.00 + gst. This includes board at Sawatzky Equine for the duration of the program.
Payment Due: August 1, 2021
*Horse will be owned by Sawatzky Equine or be a Joint Venture Lease generated by Sawatzky Equine.
What is the cost to board my horse for the duration of the program?
Discount Price for 6 week on site boarding for participant horses that are in the program is $450.00 + gst / per horse.
*This gives you access to working with your colt on site 7 days a week (unless the facility is booked for other events)
We have outdoor pens with shelters and auto water.
We feed grass hay and a daily mineral mixture.
Access to indoor arena with a barn attached as well as an outdoor arena.
Payment Due : On Arrival September 3, 2021.
Is there on-site accommodations?
Camping at Sawatzky Equine
Free Camping for self-contained campers with no power hook up.
Night Rate of $10 per night if power plug in and/or services* are needed. (Limited plug ins available)
*Services include Shower/Kitchenette/Large Fridge/Laundry
On Site Accommodation
We have a limited amount of on site accommodation.
Hostel style rooms with access to kitchenette/shower/laundry/fridge-freezer.
Available full time for 6 Week Intensive: $900 + gst
Weekend Use: $35 per night
*Students participating in the Intensive Program get first option to utilize on site accommodation.
What is the time committment between weekends?
The "base" of the Professional Program includes ALL of the Standard Program schedule
PLUS 18 additional small group coaching sessions.
(Tuesday - Thursday Mornings every week).
The Standard Colt Starting School Includes**
All 4 Standard Colt Starting School Weekends*
All 3 Standard Colt Starting School Friday Evening Classes*
All 6 Standard Colt Starting School Weekly Check in Teleconference Calls*
Haul In & Stabling for Weekends
Theory and Exercise Manuals
It's preferred you work with your colt 2-3 times per week in between weekends.

Do I have to be a professional already to do the Professional program?
How many students per class?
In order to provide a safe, supportive and systematic education in Colt Starting our
enrollment is limited to 6 students* total.
*Combined total of both Professional & Standard program participants.
Is the program accredited and do I get a certificate?
What is needed in my video application?
Please record a simple video of your riding (walk, trot, canter).
1. Must showcase your seat and riding ability
2. Video should be approx. 5-10 minutes in length
3. Please do not edit (no filters or special effects)
4. Bonus Points - If you are riding an unfamiliar horse.
